1Now in form Megalops. A genus of marine fishes including the Indo-Pacific or ox-eye tarpon, Megalops cyprinoides, and the Atlantic tarpon, M. atlanticus (family Megalopidae).
2A free-swimming larval stage in the developments of crabs, following the zoea stage and having the adult number of trunk segments and legs, and large eyes; a crab in this stage.
