Origin
Late 17th century; earliest use found in Blankaart's Physical Dictionary. From post-classical Latin paraphimosis from para- + phimosis. Compare Hellenistic Greek περιϕίμωσις, in the same sense (for which παραϕίμωσις occurs as an error in the manuscript tradition).
