Two German painters. Lucas (1472–1553, known as Cranach the Elder) was a member of the Danube School who was noted for his early religious pictures, such as The Rest on the Flight into Egypt (1504). He also painted portraits, including several of Martin Luther. His son Lucas (1515–86, known as Cranach the Younger) continued working in the same tradition as his father.
