(1934–2012), US army officer; nickname Stormin' Norman ; full name Herbert Norman Schwarzkopf, Jr.. He was deputy commander of US forces during the invasion of Grenada 1983. Promoted to full general in 1988 and appointed commander in chief of the US Central Command 1988–91, he led the Allied forces against Iraq in the Persian Gulf War 1991.
