Origin

Early 17th century (in an earlier sense). From pseudo- + -graph. In sense 1 after post-classical Latin pseudographuswriter of falsehoods or its etymon ancient Greek ψευδογράϕος drawer of false diagrams, in medieval Greek also writer of falsehoods; compare pseudographer.
