  • Mrs Emmeline (1858–1928), Christabel (1880–1958), and (Estelle) Sylvia (1882–1960), English suffragettes. In 1903 Emmeline and her daughters founded the Women's Social and Political Union, with the motto ‘Votes for Women’. Following the imprisonment of Christabel in 1905, Emmeline initiated the militant suffragette campaign which continued until the outbreak of the First World War.
