Originally from post-classical Latin advolution-, advolutio action of rolling towards, prostration, rotation from classical Latin advolūt-, past participial stem of advolvere to roll to or towards, (reflexive or passive) to prostrate oneself before, grovel at (from ad- + volvere) + -iō.
