(1903–75), English sculptor; full name Dame Jocelyn Barbara Hepworth. A pioneer of abstraction in British sculpture, she worked in wood, stone, and bronze and is noted for her simple monumental works in landscape and architectural settings, including The Family of Man (nine-piece group, 1972).
