Hygrophilous Organisms
Hygrophilous Organisms
land organisms adapted to life under conditions of high humidity. In an environment of low humidity these animals suffer a rapid loss of water, which can cause them to perish. Hygrophilous organisms live in swampy areas, humid forests, and the floodlands of rivers; along the shores of lakes and other bodies of water; and in the soil (earthworms, for instance) or in decaying wood (many invertebrates, such as insects and myriopods).
