High-Frequency Corona
High-Frequency Corona
an alternating-current corona discharge at frequencies on the order of 105 Hz and higher. At frequencies of approximately 10 MHz and significant power levels of the energy source driving the discharge, the high-frequency corona discharge becomes a flare discharge. High-frequency corona discharges are used, for example, in plasmatrons to obtain a relatively pure low-temperature plasma (not contaminated by matter from the electrodes).
