Besov Nos
cliff drawings on the east shore of Lake Onega. The drawings, which number over 100, are stamped out, either fully or in outline, on the shore cliffs. They include figures of animals, birds, people, fish, and the so-called figure of a “devil.” The drawings were left by hunting and fishing tribes of the Neolithic and early metal ages. The portrayal of the “devil” is considered, on the basis of its stylistic peculiarities, to be a later drawing.
