General Council of the Bar

known as the Bar Council, the body which represents BARRISTERS. Among other things it is charged with representing the BAR as a modern and forward-looking profession, albeit its members wear white wigs. It seeks to maintain professional standards and an effective complaints and disciplinary procedure. It handles education and training. It participates in law reform. It organizes professional development. It promotes the Bar's interests with Government, and other official bodies.
