Gas-Oil Ratio

 

the ratio between the amount of gas (in cu m) obtained from a deposit through a well, reduced to atmospheric pressure and a temperature of 20° C, and the amount of petroleum (in tons or cu m) extracted at the same time under the same pressure and temperature. The gas-oil ratio depends on the proportions of gas and petroleum in the stratum, the physical and geological properties of the stratum, the type and rate of operation, the pressure in the stratum, and so on. The gas-oil ratio is an important indicator of the expenditure of reservoir energy and the determination of gas resources in a petroleum deposit.
