Frontier Markets

Developing countries or stocks listed in those countries with less infrastructure, capitalization, and/or liquidity than other developing countries. A frontier market is considered a type of emerging market, but is considered less prominent or important than markets like India or Brazil. Examples of frontier markets include Bahrain and Nigeria.

Securities markets in the least developed of the emerging markets. Mexico and Taiwan are generally considered emerging markets while Zimbabwe, Jamaica, and Kenya are considered frontier markets. Political factors are especially important to the trading and valuation of securities traded in frontier markets.
