Gerasimova, Valeriia Anatol’evna

 

Born Apr. 14 (27), 1903, in Saratov; died June 2, 1970, in Moscow. Soviet Russian writer. Member of CPSU since 1926.

Gerasimova graduated from Moscow State University in 1926. She published her first work, the novella The Untrue Ones, in 1923. She is the author of the collection of stories Armor and Visor (1931) and the novellas Pity (1933), Sly Eyes (1938), Baidarskii Gate (1944), A Familiar Face (1960), and Gravity (1969). One of her basic themes is the unmasking of the petit bourgeois, the “untrue” man, who is contrasted with the bearers of socialist morality. Gerasimova was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and medals.
