Born Oct. 12, 1913, in Istanbul. Greek playwright and stage director.

Sebastikoglu graduated from the faculty of law at the University of Athens. He took part in the resistance movement of 1941–45, His first play was The Holiday of Constantine and Helen (staged 1943). In 1945 and 1946 he staged and directed the documentary chronicle 1941–1944, Kodzias’ The Awakening, and Arbuzov’s The Long Way.

Sebastikoglu lived in the USSR from 1949 to 1965. From 1951 to 1955 he was director of the Popular Theater of the Greek political emigres in Tashkent. He returned to Greece in 1965. After the fascist coup of 1967 he emigrated to France. Sebastikoglu wrote the dramas Angela (1958) and The RoyalProcurator (Russian translation, 1966) and the scenarios for the films The Sponge Gatherers and The End and the Beginning. One of his main themes is the struggle of the Greek people against the fascist oppressors and against internal reaction.
