An obsolete culture medium for Mycobacterium spp containing 95% blood serum and 5% glycerin; culture media currently used for mycobacteria include egg-based, agar-based and albumin-based formulations, in particular the “Middlebrooks” (7H10, 7H11, 7H12), which contain precisely defined ratios of nutrients, proteins, vitamins and enzymes.
