Ganjiang
Ganjiang
(Kan Chiang), a river in southeast China, part of the Yangtze River system. Length, about 760 km; basin area, approximately 82,000 sq km. It originates in springs in the Nan Ling and Wui mountains and flows mainly along a plain between mountains until it enters Poyang Lake. Its basic tributaries are the Yuan, Jinjiang, and Lushui, all of which enter from its left. It is full of water throughout the year, with its maximum flow in the summer during the monsoon rains. The Ganjiang is important for floating logs. It flows past the cities of Kanchou (the upper limit for navigation) and Nanchang.
