beta tryptase beta tryptase A tetrameric enzyme released from mast cells during anaphylactic reactions, which provides supportive evidence in suspected anaphylactic death (with the caveat that it can also be increased in non-anaphylatic deaths and can be normal in asthmatic and anaphylactic deaths). The WHO views elevated tryptase as a minor criterion in the diagnosis of systemic mastocytosis. |
