A mixture of substances (e.g., sterols and ferulic acid) extracted from rice bran oil. It been used in Japan for postmenopausal symptoms, mild anxiety, stomach upset, hypercholesterolaemia; in the US, it has been used as a sports supplement, premised on its antioxidant activity and its alleged ability to enhance muscle growth by stimulating growth hormone and testosterone release.A short, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study did not confirm these assertions.
