Gori Cotton Combine

 

a complex located in the city of Gori in the Georgian SSR, consisting of two spinning factories, two weaving factories, and finishing facilities. The combine manufactures high quality coarse calico, flannel, maiia (a thin, light cotton textile), plaid, piqué, and other fabrics. Construction of the combine began in 1947, and the first products were manufactured in 1951. The enterprise’s production volume was three times greater in 1960 than in 1955,4.3 times greater in 1965, and 5.3 times greater in 1970.
