George Noory

George Noory is host of the nationally syndicated program Coast to Coast AM, which is heard by millions of listeners on approximately 560 stations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Noory provides his devoted listeners with a steady diet of provocative interviews and discussions with popular authors, researchers, conspiracists, scientists, and mystics. Listeners from all over the world are invited to call into the program to ask questions or to share their own experiences with UFOs, paranormal phenomena, time travel, alien abductions, conspiracies and all things curious and unexplained.

Noory has said that he is driven by the desire to solve the great mysteries of our time. From his first days as a radio broadcaster, according to his biography on Coast to Coast, Noory has aimed to expose the “stories that the mainstream media never touch—the unusual, the paranormal and things like that.” Explaining his life calling, he said, “I learned that broadcasting was the best business for exploring these issues, and I’ve been doing it for over thirty-three years.”

Noory was born in Detroit, Michigan, on June 4, 1950, to parents of Lebanese descent. He grew up in Dearborn Heights and was brought up a Roman Catholic. Noory had an out-of-body experience as a child, and as a teenager he became fascinated with the paranormal. When he was thirteen, his mother gave him a copy of Walter Sullivan’s We Are Not Alone. Reading about UFOs hooked him on the subject, and he joined the National Investigation Committee for Aerial Phenomenon (NICAP). Nine years service as a full lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve did nothing to blunt Noory’s interest in the strange and the unknown.

Before he became the host of the very successful The Nighthawk program on KTRS in St. Louis, Noory had worked at WCAR-AM and WJBK in Detroit and at KSTP in St. Paul, Minnesota, where, at age twenty-eight, he became the youngest news director in the country. While he served as a news executive, he was the recipient of three Emmy Awards.

While he was hosting The Nighthawk, Noory was tapped by Premiere Radio Networks to guest host on Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell. His first program was on April 28, 2001. Later, he replaced Ian Punnett as the Sunday night host. On January 1, 2003, Noory assumed the weeknight hosting duties when Art Bell announced that he wished to retire. On January 21, 2006, Bell decided that he would like to return, but only to do the weekend programs, thereby replacing Punnett on Saturday nights and Noory on the first two Sundays of the month. On January 22, 2006, after the death of his wife on January 5, Bell returned to host intermittently. Punnett hosted the spin-off Coast to Coast Live on Saturday nights, a position he held until late 2011, when, due to health matters, he alternated with various guest hosts. On what was his traditional Halloween program, Art Bell hosted his final Coast on October 31, 2010. Noory has signed to remain as the principal host through 2013.

Although Noory has not openly declared an affiliation with any political party, he is avidly interested in politics and its influence upon the nation. Many listeners feel that they have detected a slight leaning in Noory’s views toward Libertarianism and cite his high regard for the principles of Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul as evidence.

Noory says that his first book, Worker in the Light: Unlock Your Five Senses and Liberate Your Limitless Potential (2006), written with bestselling author William J. Birnes, is his “revolutionary guide to spiritual enlightenment, human empowerment, ultimate productivity and absolute happiness.” The two coauthored a follow-up in 2009 entitled Journey to the Light, in which they present amazing first-hand accounts of how ordinary people changed their own lives, transcended their doubts and fears, and unlocked the secrets to their spiritual growth. In October 2011, Noory released his third book, Talking to the Dead. Written with Rosemary Ellen Guiley, a leading expert on the paranormal and supernatural, the book explores the colorful history and personalities behind spirit communications, weaving together spirituality, metaphysics, science, and technology.
