Sagini, Gamal Al-

 

Born Jan. 6, 1917, in Cairo. Egyptian sculptor.

Sagini studied at the Art Institute in Cairo. His allegorical works, imbued with democratic themes, are executed with fervor, psychological insight, and compositional inventiveness. They include the beaten-copper reliefs Freedom (1956, Museum of Modern Art, Cairo) and Cairo (1968, private collection of the sculptor).
