Galán Rodriguez, Fermin

 

Born Oct. 4, 1899, in San Fernando; died Dec. 14, 1930, in Campo de los Mártires. Spanish republican.

After graduating from the Military Academy of Infantry in Toledo, which he entered in 1915, Galán Rodriguez served in Spanish Morocco as a police officer and later in the Tercio Foreign Legion. In 1926 he took part in preparations for the revolt against the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera. He was arrested and spent more than three years in prison. Together with A. Garcia Hernandez, Galán Rodriguez was one of the organizers and leaders of the revolt of the military garrison of the city of Jaca in December 1930 against the monarchy of Alfonso XIII. He was sentenced by a military tribunal and shot.
