geometry limited

geometry limited

A limitation on rotation at the moment of takeoff caused by the geometry of the aircraft. Aircraft that are rather long, or stretched versions of existing aircraft, may tend to scrape their tails if rotated to the normal climb attitude at the moment of rotation at VR (rotation speed). To counter this, the initial pitch angle is less than the ideal. Once the aircraft is clear of the ground, a normal pitch attitude is achieved. The flight director pitch bars normally guide the pilot.
