Galich Rise
Galich Rise
or Galich-Chukhloma rise, a hilly morainal ridge that is a part of the Severnye Uvaly hills system in Kostroma and Vologda oblasts of the RSFSR. It stretches 250 km long almost meridionally and is 150-200 m high (max elevation, 293 m). Gentle slopes separated by lower areas prevail. The western slope is drained by left tributaries of the Kostroma River, and the eastern one is cut through by tributaries of the Unzha and the Volga. There are two big shallow lakes—Galich and Chukhloma. The Galich rise is covered by mixed coniferous and broad-leaved woods.
