Galich Lake

 

in Kostroma Oblast, RSFSR. Area, 75.4 sq km; length, 17 km; greatest width, 6.4 km; maximum depth, 5 m. The lake bottom is gently sloping and covered with silt. Its banks are low and flat. The lake is fed by snow and rain, as well as by subsoil water. It freezes over at the end of October and thaws in mid-April. Several small rivers flow into Galich Lake; the Veksa River, a left tributary of the Kostroma, flows out of it.
