Bagirova, Basti Masim Kyzy

 

Born in 1906 in the village of Abdullabeikiurd, now part of Kasum-Ismailovskii Raion; died Feb. 27, 1962, in the village of Bakhchakiurd, Kasum-Ismailovskii Raion. Expert in cotton growing. Chairman (1953–62) of the Bakhchakiurd kolkhoz (now the Bagirova kolkhoz) in Kasum-Ismailovskii Raion of the Azerbaijan SSR. Twice Hero of Socialist Labor (1947, 1950). Member of the CPSU from 1937.

Bagirova joined the kolkhoz in 1930 and was a team leader from 1936. In 1946 her team obtained a cotton harvest of 105 centners per hectare (ha) over an area of 5 ha; in 1947, 111.2 centners per ha over 5 ha; in 1948, 90.7 centners over 6.5 ha; and in 1949, 100 centners over 6 ha. She was elected to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan at the 23rd, 24th, and 25th congresses of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan. She was deputy to the first through the third convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and the fourth and fifth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR. She was a member of the Presidium of the fifth convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR. She was awarded three Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, medals, and also a large gold medal of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition.
