Geoksiur
Geoksiur
a mound containing the remains of an Aeneolithic settlement (fourth to early third century B.C.) of settled cultivators in southern Turkmenia. The site is located 20 km east of the city of Tedzhen near the Geoksiur railroad station. Several adobe multiroom houses as well as group burial chambers were excavated between 1955 and 1965 by V. I. Sarianidi. Ceramics with dichromatic paintings and numerous female terracotta figurines were also discovered. Geoksiur typifies the culture of the eastern Anau group of tribes that displays connections with Elam and Mesopotamia.
