Galati Metallurgical Combine
Galaţi Metallurgical Combine
the largest enterprise of Rumania’s metallurgical industry. The main plant went into operation in 1966-68. The combine consists of a sintering mill and blast-furnace, steel-smelting (with converters), rolling-mill, and refractory-materials shops, as well as a steam power plant. The combine manufactures approximately 40 percent of the rolled steel produced in Rumania. Its modern equipment permits the use of the latest technology in metallurgical production. The USSR rendered technical assistance in the construction of the combine; some of the equipment was imported from Great Britain and France.
