Gaultian Stage

Gaultian Stage

 

a stratum of blue clays with ammonites and other fossils found in Cambridgeshire (Great Britain) and corresponding to the middle and upper parts of the Albian stage of the Cretaceous system. The term has local significance. For several geologists it has become synonymous for the Albian stage and has become known as a stage subdivision in the general stratigraphic chart.
