a city (since 1940), the administrative center of Glubokoe Raion, Vitebsk Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. Railroad station on the Pabrade-Polotsk line. Population, 12,000 (1970). A meat-packing combine, a creamery, a cannery, a brewery, and a milk-canning plant are located there.
Glubokoe
an urban-type settlement, the administrative center of Glubokoe Raion, Vostochnyi Kazakhstan Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Pier on the Irtysh River and a railroad station (Irtyshskii Zavod) 35 km northwest of Ust’-Kamenogorsk. Population, 12,000 (1970). The Irtysh copper-smelting plant, the workshops of the Irtysh polymetallic combine, the repair base for the river fleet, and a sewing factory are located there. There are also branches of the Leninogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Technicum and a medical school.
Glubokoe
(Omuk-Kiuel’), a lake in Taimyr (Dolgano-Nenets) National Okrug, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. Area, 143 sq km. This long, narrow lake lies in a glacial tectonic valley south of the Lamsk Mountain Range (the western edge of the Putoran Massif). The Glubokaia River (Diring-Iuriakh) flows out of Lake Glubokoe and into Lake Melkoe (Piasina Basin). Lake Glubokoe is fed by snow and rain. It freezes in the second half of October and thaws in June. The lake’s main tributaries are the Chachir, Severnyi Inkond’ekit, and the main Iashchkun, which flows from Lake Sobach’e.
