geocentric longitude[¦jē·ō¦sen·trik ′län·jə‚tüd] (astronomy) The celestial longitude of the position of a body projected on the celestial sphere when the body is viewed from the center of the earth. (geodesy) At a position on the earth's surface, the angle between the plane of the reference meridian and a plane through the polar axis and a line from the position in question to the center of mass of the earth. |
