Gafurov

(Sovetabad before Jan. 23, 1978), city and administrative center of Khodzhent Raion, Leninabad Oblast, Tadzhik SSR. Located in the western part of the Fergana Valley. Railroad station (Leninabad) on the Khavast-Kokand line. Population, 17,800 (1975). Gafurov has a winery, a brewery, a meat-packing combine, and a cotton-ginning plant.
