Fraser, Douglas (Andrew)

(1916– ) labor leader; born in Glasgow, Scotland. He came to the U.S.A. in 1922 and became an auto worker. He was elected president of Local 227 of the United Automobile Workers (UAW) in 1943. He co-led the bargaining committee that won the UAW's historic early retirement program (1964). He was vice president (1970–77) and president (1977–83) of the UAW.
