Franklin Bay
Franklin Bay
part of Amundsen Gulf in the Beaufort Sea, on the northern coast of Canada. Bounded by the Parry Peninsula to the east, Franklin Bay is 80 km long, 90 km wide at the entrance, and up to 160 m deep. The Horton River empties into the bay, which is icebound from October through July. Franklin Bay was discovered in 1826 by the British arctic explorer J. Richardson and named in honor of J. Franklin.
