Laffémas, Barthélémy de
Born 1545 in Beausem-blant, Dauphiné; died circa 1612 in Paris. French statesman and economist.
Laffémas became controller general of trade in 1602. A zealous supporter of protectionism, he contributed to the creation of French manufactures (especially silk, tapestries, and weapons) and the development of trade.
