Girishk

a city in southwest Afghanistan. Population, approximately 30,000. It is situated on the Helmand River and the Herat-Kandahar highway and is a highway junction. The city is the center of an irrigated region along the Helmand River. It is a center for trade in fruit, raisins, wool, and rawhide supplied by neighboring oases and livestock breeders in nearby deserts and mountain steppes.
