Eidlitz, Leopold

(1823–1908) architect; born in Prague, Bohemia. In New York after 1843, he designed churches, and public and commercial buildings. His functional and organic approach to architecture influenced Frank Furness and Louis Sullivan through his Nature and Function of Art (1881).

Eidlitz, Leopold

(1823–1908)American architect in New York City; a proponent of Gothic designs and structuralism. Designed the New York State Capitol in 1885, Albany, NY, with H. H. Richardson and Frederick Law Olmstead, and the County “Tweed” Courthouse, southern wing, in 1878, New York City.
