Dzhety-Oguz

a balneological health resort in the Kirghiz SSR, 28 km from Przheval’sk. It is located on the northern slope of Terskei-Alatau, in a ravine of the wooded valley of the Dzhety-Oguz River at an elevation of 2,200-2,400 m. Summers are moderately warm (average July temperatures of 16°C) and the winters are mild (average January temperatures of -6°C). Annual precipitation totals approximately 350 mm. Therapeutic remedies include hot nitrate springs (25°-43°C), radon springs [up to 127.4 x 10^-8 curies per liter (350 Mache units or 471.38 x 10² disintegrations per sec x liter)], and sodium chloride and calcium chloride springs whose waters are used for baths. Dzhety-Oguz has a sanatorium for the treatment of patients with disorders of the locomotor and support organs and the peripheral nervous system, skin disease, and gynecological problems.
