Collins, (Edward Trowbridge) Eddie, Sr.

(1887–1951) baseball player; born in Millerton, N.Y. As a second baseman for the Philadelphia Athletics and Chicago White Sox (1906–30), he compiled a lifetime batting average of .333. An honest member of the 1919 "Black Sox" team that deliberately lost the World Series, he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1939.
