employee involvement

employee involvement

the attempt to increase employees' interest and commitment to their work and to the organization without, however, giving them any role in decision-making. SUGGESTION SCHEMES, which encourage employees to think about ways in which work methods could be improved but which generally give them no role in the assessment of their recommendations, are a good example. The term is often used interchangeably with EMPLOYEE PARTICIPATION, but there is a difference in nuance in that the latter usually provides for some, albeit limited, participation in decision-making.
