A mosquito-borne infection by an RNA virus of the Bunyaviridae family, which affects flocks of sheep, especially the US Midwest.
 
Clinical findings
Spontaneous abortion, birth defects affecting the CNS and musculoskeletal system, with underdeveloped muscles, fused joints, spinal deformities and enlarged skulls. Lambs that survive are drowsy, weak or unsteady, especially if born as twins or triplets.
