eosinophil leucocyte

eosinophil leucocyte

a type of white blood cell (of the GRANULOCYTE group) which takes up the stain of an acid dye; an ACIDOPHIL. Eosinophils make up about 4% of the adult human leucocytes. They are produced in the bone marrow, and their function is probably connected with the IMMUNE RESPONSE, particularly ALLERGIES.
