[¦kül·ər¦stȯr·ij ‚riŋ] (nucleonics) A type of accelerator in which ions are kept circulating in an annular structure, guided by magnetic fields, and the energy spread, angular divergence, and geometrical size of the ion beam are reduced by stochastic, electron, or laser cooling. Also known as cooler ring.
