dells D0114300 (dĕlz)pl.n. The rapids of a river. [Alteration of dalles (influenced by dell).]Dells
Dells flat, elongated channelless hollows that have no constant flow of water. Their lengths range from 10 m to more than 1,000 m. They are formed by the combined action of occasional shortterm flows of water, which periodically deepen the valley profile of dells, and the slow, descending movements of the weathering surface materials, which fill in the profile.
