convolutional code
convolutional code[‚kän·vəlü·shən·əl ′kōd] (communications) An error-correcting code that processses incoming bits serially rather than in large blocks. convolutional codeA type of channel coding that adds patterns of redundancy to the data in order to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for more accurate decoding at the receiving end. The Viterbi algorithm is used to decode a particular type of convolutional code. See Viterbi decoder.AcronymsSeecruiser |
