Location:Near Black's Fork on the Green River, 3 miles off I-80.
Facilities:Picnic area, historical trail, Volksmarch trail, visitor center, museum, gift shop, restrooms (é).
Activities:Self-guiding tours, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Mountain man Jim Bridger chose this site for his post in 1843, and in 1858 it became a major military installation that was vital to the Pony Express and Overland Stage routes. Structures in the fort have been restored.
