A general term for the official documents approved by the UK’s Specialist Training Authority (STA), which set out the requirements for training in a specialty needed for the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) by a medical Royal College. The STA was absorbed into the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB) in 2004/5, the function of which was passed to the General Medical Council in 2010. The CCST is now known as the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
