Buzachi

a peninsula in the northeastern Caspian Sea, in Gur’ev Oblast, Kazakh SSR. The highest elevation is 61 m. In the south the surface is hilly and covered in places with barchans and hummocky sands. In the north there are large expanses of solonchaks. The mountains of the Mangyshlak Peninsula adjoin Buzachi in the south. The area of the peninsula has increased considerably during the last 20 years because of the lowering of the level of the Caspian.
